Cotton,the world's most important non-food agricultural commodity,is considered as superior natural textile fiber.It is used in our country for long time & take part in our tradition as''MUSLIN''.It is an introduced crop&cultivated in late summer.

Cotton is commonly known as kapas tula in our country.It is primarily cultivated for its lint,which is spun into yarn.

Jute, commonly known as pat, is another most important crop of  Bangladesh,which has ranked second position in respect of production among Jute growing country. It is the called golden fiber, which would be fabric of future.Jute fiber is renowned for its versatility.it is for making cloths ,sacks,carpets etc.Jute sticks and Jute leaves are used as fuel and vegetables respectively.Jute plant add soil fertility by adding organic matter through massive leaf dropping.Jute grown in Bangladesh comprises two species viz.Corchorus casularis(Deshi pat),which have originated from India & Corchorus olitorius(Tossa pat),which is originated from Africa.

Comilla,Faridpur,Kustia,Jessore,Pabna,Rajshahi are predominant jute growing regions of our country.Jute is mainly grown in kharif season & well uniform land with good drainage is best suited for cultivation of jute.It is mainly propagated by seed.
